Samuel Beckett
Samuel Beckett was an Irish playwright, novelist, and poet, born on April 13, 1906 in Dublin and died on December 22, 1989 in Paris. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in the theater of the absurd. He studied at Trinity College in Dublin, where he specialized in Romance languages. After a period as a reader at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, he settled permanently in France, a country that deeply marked his life and work.
Beckett wrote in both English and French, and his style is characterized by minimalism, black humor, and the exploration of themes such as despair, time, and the human condition. His most famous work, Waiting for Godot (1953), marked a milestone in contemporary theater by subverting traditional dramatic conventions.
