Tanya Pearson
Tanya Pearson is an oral historian, writer, and musician from the US, specializing in gender studies and alternative music. She is the founder of the Women of Rock Oral History Project, a collection of digital interviews documenting the trajectories of women in rock music. Her first book, Why Marianne Faithfull Matters, was published in 2021 by University of Texas Press. In January 2025, she released Pretend We're Dead: The Rise, Fall, and Resurrection of Women in Rock in the '90s, a work exploring the presence and decline of women in alternative rock during the 90s.

Pearson primarily writes in the genres of non-fiction, cultural history, and music, focusing on themes of feminism and female representation in the music industry. In addition to her books, she has contributed articles to media outlets such as The Washington Post, Bust Magazine, and PopMatters. She is currently an assistant professor in Gender Studies and African American Studies at Ball State University.
