Daniel B. Jones
Daniel B. Jones is a distinguished American surgeon and academic, known for his leadership in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. He is a professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and vice-chairman of the Surgery Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Additionally, he heads the Division of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery and the Carl J. Shapiro Simulation and Skills Center.

Jones earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed his general surgery residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis. In 1997, he performed the first laparoscopic gastric bypass in Texas and founded the Southwestern Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery.

He has served as president of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the Association for Surgical Education (ASE), and has received awards such as the James IV Travel Award and the SAGES Medical Leadership Award. His research focuses on advanced laparoscopic surgery and obesity treatment, with multiple publications in specialized medical journals.

In addition to his clinical and teaching work, Jones has been an advocate for surgical education and technological innovation in surgery.
